This was Pastepunk's first compilation and a huge personal milestone. I got into punk and hardcore music in the mid 90s and the most important music discovery tool at the time was low-priced CD samplers. I bought them from labels, from local kids doing scene compilations, and virtually any zine that came with a bundled bonus comp. I knew I had wanted to put out one of my own, and I knew I wanted to focus on already released songs that I felt were awesome and maybe overlooked.
I organized the comp during my senior year of college, ordered roughly 3000 CDs and had them shipped to my parents house (I gave them about 6 hours notice before UPS truck arrived). I sent out a bunch of copies to each band, did some mailorder, and gave some to music stores on Long Island, and after staring at roughly 2000 CDs still at my parents house, I had the good fortune of Suburban Home Records agreeing to distribute the rest. All told, a second pressing eventually occurred and a surprisingly high number of copies ended up in Japan. I have no regrets about any of the songs I put on here, but I do wish I started the whole thing off with GOOD RIDDANCE's "Choices Made".
